A Legacy of International Education Since 1969

Bangalore International School was founded in 1969 as the American Community School. At a time when international education opportunities were limited in Bengaluru, the school was established to serve expatriate families seeking a globally oriented education for their children.

From its earliest years in a modest learning space, the school grew steadily alongside the city. As Bengaluru developed into a global centre for innovation and international collaboration, BIS expanded thoughtfully while preserving the close and supportive community that defined its beginnings.

Today, the school educates more than 600 students representing a wide range of nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Although the city and the educational landscape have evolved significantly over the decades, the guiding principles of BIS remain constant.
