A Legacy of International Education Since 1969

Bangalore International School was founded in 1969 as the American Community School. At a time when international education opportunities were limited in Bengaluru, the school was established to serve expatriate families seeking a globally oriented education for their children.

From its earliest years in a modest learning space, the school grew steadily alongside the city. As Bengaluru developed into a global centre for innovation and international collaboration, BIS expanded thoughtfully while preserving the close and supportive community that defined its beginnings.

Today, the school educates more than 600 students representing a wide range of nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Although the city and the educational landscape have evolved significantly over the decades, the guiding principles of BIS remain constant. Care, connection, and academic excellence continue to shape the way the school approaches learning.

The history of BIS is therefore not simply a story of longevity. It reflects a sustained commitment to educational values that have remained consistent for more than five decades.
